Using blood derived growth factors (Platelet Rich Plasma, PRP) and/or fillers is a safe procedure for enlarging the penis to potentially improve sexual function and pleasure. These materials are FDA approved for use in other areas of the body, but are used “off label” as part of the practice of medicine at the physicians discretion to accomplish this procedure.
The treatment utilizes a distillate of growth factors from your own blood, so there should be no side effects for the injected material. The body’s response to the PRP injection is as it would to a wound and immediately starts “repairing” the tissue. This gradually causes the treated tissue to increase in the girth and sometimes the length of the penis. FDA approved fillers like hyaluronic acid gels, calcium hydroxlapatite (Radiesse®) and polymethyl-methacrylate (Bellafill®) may be used “off label” to enhance this increase in size. PRP stimulates new blood flow and blood vessel growth in the area, which can improve function.
The results of this treatment should last 6 to 18 months if results mimic that siren in facial procedures using the same materials, but results may vary and no guarantee can be made.
Possible results include: larger girth, increased length, increased circulation (which may improve function), increased sensation and pleasure. Other therapies may work better, (you may still need to take Viagra or Cialis, etc.).
You may take a pain medication (acetaminophen or similar) or an anti-anxiety medication prior to the procedure. Please do not drive if you are taking any sedatives or narcotics.
After brief consultation and examination, you will be given numbing cream to apply to the head and shaft of the penis. You can wrap it with plastic wrap to improve numbing and keep from soiling clothes.
Blood is drawn from you, into a special tube for preparation of the PRP. The blood is centrifuged and PRP is separated for your procedure. Calcium is added to the PRP just before it is injected to “activate” the platelets, so that they release the healing and growth factors into the tissue.
Fillers or Fillers mixed with PRP or PRP alone may be injected into the shaft and head of the penis, depending on what your needs and wishes are.
RISK AND PAIN:
You will have a slight pinch when the needle is inserted for collect of your blood and when the insertion sites for filler and PRP are numbed on the penis. Injections are fairly comfortable because of the numbing cream, dorsal penile (anesthetic) block and anesthetic mixed in with the fillers. The numbing wears off over several hours.
There is potential for bruising and swelling.
Asymmetry may improve, resolve or worsen.
There is little risk for scarring.
There is some variation in results as different patients may have more or less response to the treatment, and depending on the amount of PRP and fillers used on any given procedure (which can vary).
To date, there have been no serious side effects with the use of PRP anywhere in the body.
Fillers can be uneven, resorb more quickly than expected or form lumps or bumps that generally, but not always resolve over time.
There is little post treatment other than common sense. Support swollen tissue. Bruising is normal. Apply cool packs as desired to decrease pain or swelling. You can shower any time. You may soak, tub, or swim about a week after your procedure – once all insertion sites have completely closed. You may have sexual relations in 3 to 5 days or as soon as you are comfortable. Some soreness is to be expected initially.
Please call or text Dr. Zimmerman, if you have any urgent concerns after hours.
You should schedule a follow-up 2 to 4 weeks after your procedure.
PHOTOGRAPHS AND MEASUREMENTS:
I understand my identity will be protected. Photographs and measurements preformed before and periodically after your procedure help us gauge your response to treatment and suggest further enhancements. They are an important part of your medical record. Anonymous pictures also help educate other physicians and patients, but will only be used with your written permission.
This is an elective, cosmetic procedure, which may or may not enhance sexual experiences. No guarantees can be made. The cost for this procedure is the patient’s responsibility. It is based on the cost of the procedure and the materials used for that particular patient at the time.
I have read the above and understand it.
I have had all my questions answered.
I give permission for Dr. Zimmerman/Dr. Lee and his staff to administer anesthesia.
I give permission for pictures to be obtained for my medical record and used with identity protection for training and education.
With or without PRP and/or fillers, erectile function and sensation can decrease with time. I understand that this can happen and completely release Las Vegas Laser & Lipo and it’s assigns from any responsibility for decrease or increase in function of the penis
I accept the risks and complications of the procedure.
