Mechanical Exfoliation

PROCEDURE

This treatment is called “mechanical exfoliation.” In this office, we use several different systems (FaceUp, DermaSweep, or Skin Master) to perform this treatment. FaceUp uses tips with a sandpaper pad to abrade the skin surface, DermaSweep uses brushes to sweep away the dead skin cells and offers topical infusion of different products to treat your specific skin concerns (everything from hyaluronic acid for hydration to skin bleaches for pigment issues), which Skin Master utilizes ultrasound and fluid to “Deep Clean” the pores and rehydrate the skin. These are considered to be superficial treatments that pool off the outer layers of dead skin (stratum corneum). They may produce some post-treatment flaking, redness, or sensitivity. In most instances make-up can be applied two hours after treatment and normal sun exposure (which adequate protection) resumed in two days.

One or more of these treatments may be necessary to achieve the most satisfactory results, depending upon my desires. In the event that my skin is severely sun-damaged, it may be necessary to include glycolic acid peels and/or bleaching agents during my treatment sessions. These will increase the efficacy of the treatment by deepening penetration. However, they may cause additional redness or irritation. In some instances there may be superficial burning of the skin that will resolve over the next few days.

CONSENT FOR PROCEDURE

{ binding firstError.message }

I have decided to undergo a treatment to enhance the texture and tone of the skin on my face and neck or other areas. I understand that as a result of this treatment, I may notice an improvement in the appearance of the fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, acne/acne scarring and pore size; but there is no guarantees that can be made as to the degree of improvement.

I understand that a certified skin care specialist working under the doctors’ supervision will perform my treatments.
