Declaw (Front Feet Only)
A surgical declaw begins with pre-anesthetic bloodwork. If that comes back within acceptable limits, sedation will be administered. Your pet will be intubated and placed on anesthesia gas and IV fluids. After the surgery is performed, your pet will receive cold laser therapy to speed the healing process. They will spend the night at our facility our staff will monitor them the next morning, when they will receive cold laser therapy again. They will go home with pain medication and an e-collar, if you don't already have one.
In addition to the declaw, the doctor will perform a surgical ovariohysterectomy (female cats) or a surgical castration (male cats), while your pet is already under anethesia.
**It is imperative that the doctor be able to reach you by phone on the day of the surgery. After the procedure the doctor will call you to discuss surgical findings and post-operative care for your pet.
