AZ State Senator, LD-28
The need for high quality public education opportunities and prioritized education funding is even more important today. Our students must be able to receive a world class education, so they successfully enter the work force. Our beautiful communities must have great schools to guarantee a high quality of life where we live, work and play. Whether we have children in school or not, good public education is a wise investment for Arizona voters.
As a parent of three Glendale Union graduates and a legislator, I have witnessed firsthand how the Glendale Union High School District (GUHSDAZ) has worked to provide outstanding education opportunities for all their students. I know that voters have always stepped up and supported the mission of GUHSDAZ. It is more important than ever to continue, by supporting the proposed bond initiative.
Please join me in voting YES on the proposed bond initiative, to continue supporting our students and our GUHSDAZ communities.
AZ State Senator, LD-20
As a teacher, parent, and local taxpayer, I encourage you to vote YES for the GUHSD bond. The bond provides critical resources for maintenance and repair, renovations, upgrades, and security improvements - - all without raising our taxes.
I want our GUHSD schools to be safe and remain competitive and as a teacher, I know the importance of investing in our education system. Importantly, as a taxpayer, I appreciate that a YES vote will improve GUHSD schools all without increasing our taxes. Arizona students are counting on us to vote YES for the GUHSD bond.
City of Phoenix Councilwoman
I support the Glendale Union High School District special bond election. A bond issue for $130 million will not increase the tax rate for property owners in the Glendale Union High School District. The district’s bond projects will provide safer, more secure and improved schools for students including technology infrastructure, buses, safety doors, security measures, science lab renovation and much more. As the district has grown, the infrastructure has aged, technology needs have increased, and safety and security improvements are necessary. By approving this bond, you can have a direct impact on improving our schools. Successful schools provide the foundation of a successful community. I urge you to support our students and vote to approve the special bond election.
AZ State Representative, LD-30
Glendale Union has continued to earn a reputation for having America’s Best High Schools within the state. Their commitment to student achievement is undeniable.
Arizona’s funding level for public schools has caused nearly every school district in the state to seek bond funding in order to maintain aging facilities, and upgrade technology infrastructure. These necessities are not frivolous but are needed to ensure our youth have safe and secure environments to succeed.
The GUHSD bond will not be a tax rate increase. Please join me in voting yes to support our local high school district.
AZ State Representatives, LD-28
As Arizona State Representatives and proponents of strong local schools, we are proud supporters of the upcoming Bond election for the Glendale Union High School District. GUHSD has earned its excellent reputation, with its nine schools ranked among the best high schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
In order to continue delivering a world class education, students and teachers need cutting edge technology, learning spaces for core subjects and opportunities for extracurricular activities. Most important, our children and education professionals also need to be safe.
Although the state has slowly increased funding for education, we are still far from fully funding our public schools. These bonds are critical to ensure our schools can maintain their high quality — these funds will be used to upgrade safety and security measures, provide needed technology and facility maintenance and upgrades.
These bond funds are critical to maintaining and improving our public schools and this measure will not increase your taxes. We strongly support the efforts of GUHSD and encourage you to vote YES for the Bond election.
Maricopa County Board of Supervisors District 3
As a member of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, I am encouraging you to vote YES on the Glendale Union High School District (GUHSD) Bond.
GUHSD includes Apollo, Cortez, Glendale, Greenway, Independence, Moon Valley, Sunnyslope, Thunderbird and Washington High Schools. GUHSD is nationally recognized for its academics and it is recognized for putting more money in the classroom than the state average and its peer districts.
The proposed bond would not increase the tax rate for property owners and would pay for the much-needed maintenance and repair of aging buildings. Additionally, the bond will allow for critical upgrades to technology and IT infrastructure. As we have seen during the COVID-19 pandemic, having upgraded technology and internet infrastructure is vitally important to our students and teachers.
Again, please support our Glendale Union High School District students and teachers by voting YES on the GUHSD Bond.
Small business owner and parent
As a proud parent, business owner and homeowner in the Glendale Union High School District, I am extremely pleased with the quality education all students receive. Every student deserves to go to school and achieve the American dream - a dream of being educated, going to college, finding a challenging career and giving back to their community.
Glendale Union is an excelling school district, providing a challenging and rewarding curriculum. And just like my business, the district must continue to protect its investment, maintain its facilities, updating its schools and brining in new technologies for students and staff to learn and prepare for the new world economy.
The district is innovative, offering parents a variety of school choice and is always on the cutting-edge. There is nothing I want more than knowing my children are receiving a great education in a safe environment, have access to state-of-the art technology, and are college and career ready.
Glendale Union students deserve the best. I urge you to continue to support my children and our future leaders by voting "YES" on Glendale Union High School District's bond, especially since it will not raise our property tax rate.
Parent
As the parent of two Thunderbird students, one that graduated in 2019 and one that graduated in 2020, I am incredibly grateful for the education they received during their high school experience. We moved to our current neighborhood to ensure our kids would be a part of the Glendale Union High School District. Quality schools increase property values and attract businesses that enhance and strengthen a community. Our current world situation has never been more unusual, and the importance of a safe and secure campus resonates today more than ever. I appreciate Glendale Union’s constant attention to providing a high quality, safe, secure, and engaging education for our students. This bond will provide the necessary funding and will not increase our current tax rate. My children have benefited from Glendale Union and I will always support our local high schools. Our collective support is critical to ensure our schools continue to receive high rankings, receive awards, attract families, attract and keep quality educators and provide the education our students deserve. I proudly support the GUHSD bond!
Community Member from the GUHSD Blue Ribbon Bond Election Committee
Our family has four generations who have graduated from a GUHSD school. Call it unusual, but basically, we’ve been around a long time! And the same goes for many of the GUHSD buildings. Some of the same school infrastructure and pieces of buildings from generations ago are still being used by students and teachers today. Just like an old car or a well-lived-in home, upgrades are necessary. A 'yes' vote for the GUHSD bond means investing in critical items in our modern world like security and technology to keep students, teachers, staff and visitors safe 24/7. A 'yes' vote helps pay for basic revitalization for plumbing, electrical and brick and mortar. A 'yes' vote has nothing to do with a new tax as the bond authorizes the district to sell bonds (borrow money) to pay for these facility improvements. A ‘yes’ vote also has nothing to do with teacher/administrator salaries or funding per student because those items are managed separately. So, what's in it for you and me? A better community because of improved schools. No matter where you live, we all want excellent schools that are safe and in working order. Vote “yes” for that next generation.
Support Our Schools
Over the past decade, I have watched as the Glendale Union High School District has grown and developed into one of the outstanding school districts both in Arizona and the nation. Its schools have won numerous awards and received special recognition for its curricular as well as extracurricular activities.
I call out to ask all parents and registered voters within the Glendale Union High School District to support the Bond election so GUHSD may continue providing quality education and technology to our children. Please vote yes.
District Resident
The purpose of this bond is to repair aging facilities, provide safety and security upgrades, and replace aging transportation vehicles, worn out furniture, and outdated technology. Without continued maintenance and upgrades, the safety of our students and the quality of their education is in jeopardy. Successful students and well-maintained facilities help generate community pride and increase home values.
Glendale Union High School District is an outstanding district with a long history of academic excellence. The US News & World Report ranked all 9 high schools among the best in the nation and the College Board awarded the district Advanced Placement District of the Year in 2013.
We want success to continue, but additional funding is essential. The state of Arizona continues to refuse to fund building improvement and has yet to completely restore budget cuts to capital funding. This bond can be passed with NO increase to the tax rate.
Please join me in voting “Yes” for the Glendale Union High School District bond!
Arizona PTA President 2017-2019
As an alumnus of GUHSD, I am so proud to support the GUHSD bond. GUHSD is one of Arizona's oldest high school districts. This rich history has helped shaped many of today's Arizonans. We have had professional athletes, Mayors, Congressional leaders, musicians, dentists, firefighters and more graduate from GUHSD schools. I am so proud of the education I received while a student at Moon Valley and I often reflect back to the great teachers I had while there who shaped my life. Improvements to our schools will help bring the buildings into more modern, future-ready institutions for learning. School improvements in our offices will help ensure that all on campus are safe. Transportation improvements ensure our kids are traveling safely around Arizona. New technology will help ensure the best and brightest are still being sent out from these award-winning campuses. All of this WITHOUT raising taxes. I hope you will join me in voting YES on the GUHSD bond.
Glendale Community College President
Glendale Community College (GCC) is proud to partner with Glendale Union High School District (GUHSD.) It is the strength of this partnership that allows us to positively impact the lives of students and families in the communities we proudly serve.
The strength of a community is often found in the pride and quality of the school system. The citizens of Glendale and Phoenix have an incredible opportunity to continue to ensure that GUHSD is able to meet the needs of an ever-growing community while keeping pace with a workplace undergoing transformative change at lightning speed. It is imperative that we work together to ensure your children, our students, are properly prepared to join the workforce and be successful in their future. This opportunity comes in the support of the Glendale Union High School District Bond Override.
The strength of GUHSD is the dedicated teachers and staff who are committed to educating the future residents and leaders of Glendale and Phoenix. The bond will be used to keep our students and staff safe as well as provide as funds to maintain/renovate facilities.
Please join me in supporting the Glendale Union High School District.
Proud Viking Graduate
I attended high school in the Glendale Union High School District and can attest to the outstanding educational opportunities that would not have been possible without the strong financial support from the Glendale Union community.
I attended Sunnyslope High School and graduated in the top 1% of my class. I benefited from a challenging curriculum, great student programs AP classes and with the necessary facilities and equipment to challenge me - athletically and academically.
I am attending the University of Arizona with the Wildcat Excellence scholarship and plan to graduate in the spring from the Eller School of Business. I am very grateful for my scholarship, which would not have been possible without the assistance of Glendale Union's strong academics and exceptional educational opportunities offered to all students. Sunnyslope's commitment to excellence prepared me (and many others) for college and a career.
Please join me in continuing to support our schools, Glendale Union students and their futures by voting "YES" on the Glendale Union bond in November. Without your prior support, I would not be where I am today, and future students deserve the same incredible opportunities that I received.
Firefighter
As a public safety professional who grew up attending a GUHSD school and works within the district boundaries, nothing matters more to me than the safety of students.
The Glendale Union High School District currently lacks the money necessity to ensure kids are receiving an education in the safest environment possible. This bond election provides the opportunity to help meet those needs and provide the district with critical funds.
If this bond passes, all 9 traditional campuses will be upgraded and benefit from the funding. School buildings will receive critical maintenance and campus security will be enhanced through surveillance system improvements.
Growing up, I had the opportunity to receive a quality education in quality schools. Keeping students safe is a top priority and this bond will allow the district to create safer schools without raising taxes.
On Tuesday, November 3rd vote YES on the Glendale Union High School District bond.
Parent, Grandparent, and Community Member
As resident of our school district and a public servant here in Glendale for 16 years I would invite you to join me in supporting the youth of our community by voting yes on the bond issue for the Glendale Union High School District. Our schools, which are central to our community and very impactful to our property values, require constant upkeep. In spite of very difficult times we must come together and protect these valuable assets. Passing the bond will allow the school district to address pressing issues as well as continue to maintain our high schools to a safe and esthetic standard. Just as our homes fall in disrepair; schools require periodic repairs and upgrades that are not funded by the legislature. Buses must be replaced, and technology must be upgraded. Without passing of the bond safety and quality of education are diminished. As a community you have done a tremendous job of supporting education. Please join me in continuing to send a message that our children's future is important to us. Your support will mean minimal impact to your wallet but in the end immeasurable impact on our youth and community. I urge you to please vote.
