Whilst we recommend all students to purchase their own equipment for sparring we do have some loan equipment which is donated by ex-students. However, students should be aware these are not availabile in all sizes and are intended to be worn and the students own risk.
Below is a table of recommended safety equipment and a discount code for our club shop will be sent out when you application is received.
Head contact is not permitted for under 12 year olds. 13- 16 year olds are permitted to make controlled head contact, parental permission is required and will be saught on the day of the tournament
As stated above please check you PKA license is in date any student whos license is not up to date at the time of the tournament will be prevented from competing and WILL NOT be entitiled ot a refund.
Please note, with these local tournaments, your instructors are heavily reliant on the number of people entering to organize appropriate matches dependent on height, weight, grade, skills shown during training and overall sparring experience.
Your instructors will make every effort to organise well matched bouts but this may result in a new challenge for you in sparring – if you are uncomfortable about your bout in any way, please raise this as soon as possible with your instructor.
Before entering you are advised to consult your doctor. Bumps, bruises, scrapes, scratches and soreness are commonplace, and most students will encounter this sort of minor injury from time to time in their normal training, however risks of these increase with competition sparring. More serious injuries are also possible, including sprains, strains, twists, cramps, fractured or broken bones and torn ligaments. By completing and signing this form you are affirming that you understand the risks associated with Martial Arts competitions and completely absolve the organizers, officials and venue for any injury sustained during the course of this event.
