Draper Media offers unpaid internships for academic credit to qualified college students out of their Salisbury office. Internships are offered during the Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter semesters. Time frames for these internships are based on the parameters of the individual colleges and universities. Internships are available in the following areas: News, Meteorology, Sports, Sales, Creative Services (Marketing & Promotion, Commercial Production and Community Affairs), Digital, Radio, Engineering, and IT. The number of interns accepted per semester in any area is at the discretion of the Department Head.
Draper Media offers hands-on internships. Under supervision, students with the appropriate academic background have the opportunity to learn the use of and to operate equipment, cameras, and computers. Depending on the area to which they are assigned, interns accompany reporters, photographers, and sportscasters in the field as they gather news; work with producers, directors, talent, assignment editors and other professionals; write for on-air broadcasts, create commercials, promos, public service announcements and design graphics; perform non-linear video editing with Adobe Premiere Pro; edit audio with Adobe Audition; write for the web; and help with special events and lean how the various departments of a television station interact and cooperate to get the broadcast product on the air.
Students submit their application through this form. Students are then contacted to set up an in-person interview with the head of the department in which they wish to intern.
Depending on the type of internship desired, Draper Media welcomes students in good academic standing who are majoring such as Broadcasting, Communications, Telecommunications, Journalism, Meteorology, Video Production, English, Radio, Digital, Theater, Engineering, Information Technology, Sales and Marketing. Internships are highly competitive and are selected following an interview with management.
