Wise Owl Private day Nursery Emergency Closure Procedure
When deciding to close the Nursery, the rationale is always based on "as the last resort" For example, if there are very signigicant health and safety risks for children and staff, this will determine the decision or because of the impact of the severe weather condition and it being unsafe to travel to work.
The way we communicate decisions to close or partially close the nursery has been an issue due to the data protection act and confidentiality, however we will, if everyone is in agreement, follow this format in the future.
All parents will be informed throught a collective e-mail so it is important that e-mails are up-to date and checed regularly. The Wise Owl Facebook page will also have notices posted. The nursery mobile will be with the Manager so parenty can contact at any time if concerend.
Local Radio Stations: Viking FM, Lincs FM and Radio Humberside
Local Radio Website: www.vikingfm.co.uk, www.lincsfm.co.uk, http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/humberside/hi/tv_and_radio/
In very adcerse weather conditions, we may well open later and close earlier. These details would be posted on both the websites and the radio websites.
We acknowledge that any closure is an inconvenience to parents and disrupts the childs routine. Therefore, a decision to close is never taken lightly. If we have to close during the usual nursery day, we would again use the above methods of communication.
Please sign to say you have read and understood the procedure.
As consistency is very important for all children's learning and development, we aim to regularly communicate with any othe rsettings that children may attend, as well as Wise Owl. Information can then be shared about the child and both settings work alongside eachother.
