Who we are
Cognito is a fast-growing SaaS company empowering users to quickly build forms – and form-driven business solutions – by themselves. No developer necessary.
Who you are
We’re looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to help drive data-informed decision-making across the company.
In this role, you’ll partner closely with leadership, finance, marketing, and product teams to define KPIs, develop reporting, analyze trends, and deliver actionable business insights. You’ll help ensure teams have access to trusted, easy-to-understand data that supports strategic and operational decisions. You’ll play a key role in enabling self-service analytics, improving reporting consistency, identifying opportunities through data analysis, and helping stakeholders better understand business performance.
What you will be responsible for
-
Build and maintain dashboards and reports that provide real-time visibility into company performance, including MRR, NRR, and customer lifecycle metrics.
-
Conduct in-depth analyses on key business topics to support operational decision-making and strategic planning.
-
Identify and proactively surface trends, anomalies, and opportunities across the business.
-
Build and maintain data models that serve as the single source of truth for reporting across teams.
-
Partner with stakeholders to translate business questions into clear metric definitions, technical logic, and validated outputs.
-
Identify and resolve data quality and reporting issues before they reach decision-makers.
-
Enable self-service analytics through structured datasets, semantic layer documentation, and reporting best practices.
-
Help stakeholders across Marketing, Customer Success, Product, and Finance develop the data literacy to answer their own questions.
What you should bring to the table
-
2–5 years of experience in a BI, analytics, or data analyst role, ideally at a SaaS company.
-
Strong proficiency in SQL; comfortable writing complex queries against large datasets.
-
Experience building dashboards and reports in Power BI, Tableau, or a comparable BI tool.
-
Solid understanding of SaaS business metrics — you know what MRR, churn, and LTV, mean and how to model them correctly.
-
Strong data quality instincts: you validate before you ship, and you document as you go.
-
Ability to translate business questions into clear metric definitions and data models.
-
Experience with cloud data platforms such as BigQuery or Microsoft Fabric.
-
Experience with scripting or automation to streamline repetitive data tasks.
-
Experience with layered data architecture concepts (medallion, semantic layers, etc.).
What you can expect in return
- A competitive salary
- Health insurance and other benefits
- 401k retirement plan with company match
- Company provided cell phone
- Paid time off
- Hybrid work schedule – a mix of in office and work from home
- A relaxed and flexible work environment
- A great team to work with and learn from
- Team outings and planned get-togethers
- A fun and functional office in the heart of Columbia’s arts and technology district
