Happy New Year! 2017 was an exciting year here at Cognito Forms, and not just because of the total solar eclipse in August. This past year, we released several long-awaited features and enhancements for your forms, including (but not limited to):
- Password field
- Assign numeric values to Choice fields
- Enhanced entry management
- Square payment
- Microsoft Flow integration
- Quantity limits
- Form folders
As we head into 2018, we’re determined to continue releasing awesome new features for our customers on a consistent basis. Here’s a rundown of some of the things we have planned for the next couple of months:
Custom placeholder text
Placeholder text (like “First” and “Last” in a Name field, or “Address Line 2” in an Address field) provides a clear prompt for the people filling out your forms. This feature will allow you to specify your own custom placeholder text for your form fields, including the Text, Number, Currency, Date, Time and Choice - Drop Down fields.
Lookup field
The Lookup field is a Choice field - but with superpowers! Similar to a Choice field, you will be able to select the dropdown, radio button, or checkboxes types; however, the available choices will be based on entries for other forms! Plus, selected entry data will be available for calculations, allowing you to reference other information, like scores, ratios, prices, dates, etc. The possibilities are endless!
Charge customers now or later
Sometimes, your organization may need to collect a customer’s payment information upfront, but not charge them until later. With this feature, you will be able to create customers in Stripe or Square for future reference. Upon submission, the customer payment information will be stored in Stripe/Square, where you can perform a charge at a later date.
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a regulation intended to strengthen and unify data protection for all individuals within the European Economic Area. It also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU, and includes the EU-US Privacy Shield - a framework for exchanges of personal data for commercial purposes between the European Union and the United States.
Cognito Forms will be joining the EU-US Privacy Shield and will comply with GDPR before the May 25th deadline in 2018. We will be updating our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy well before this compliance deadline to reflect these changes and our adherence to the GDPR requirements.
We want your feedback!
